Osteopathy is an effective manual treatment which targets the whole of the Musculoskeletal system to relieve strain and tension, improve mobility and optimise function. This is combined with health advice and exercises specific to each persons needs.

People of all ages benefit from Osteopathy and techniques are adapted to each individual persons circumstance.

Osteopaths use a combination of deep tissue massage, stretching, articulation and manipulation of a persons muscles and joints to improve function, relieve pain and help the body initiate its own healing mechanisms to promote recovery.

Osteopathy is an Allied Health Profession and is recognised by the NHS. We often work alongside other Healthcare Practitioners like G.P's, Midwives, Nurses and others.

New Patient Appointment

As a new patient I will ask questions about your medical history and lifestyle as well as the symptoms you are currently getting. This helps me to make an accurate diagnosis and plan your treatment.

I will need to examine areas of your body that are causing the discomfort as well as other areas that may be related to the pain. I will perform certain Orthopaedic tests to help with my Diagnosis.

What to expect in your Appointment

As with any other Healthcare Professional treatment it may be necessary to remove some clothing to enable me to examine the areas of discomfort fully. I will assess your range of motion and feel for any particular areas of pain and tension and perform some Orthopaedic tests. I will then make a diagnosis according to my findings and discuss your treatment plan with you.

Osteopaths work very hard to make treatment as comfortable as possible, but you may experience some discomfort during and after treatment.

I will warn you if I think that the technique that I am about to use is likely to be uncomfortable and will stop if you tell me that you are feeling too much pain.

Following treatment you may experience some mild soreness in the area of your body that was treated, this will normally will go away within 48 hours. If you experience serious or unusual symptoms after treatment you should contact me straight away for advice.
